Jesus - Part 6, The Eternal Constant

Our earth is an extraordinarily complex place, and
we are part of a universe whose size, grandeur and diverse nature
cannot be catalogued by humans. There are incredible distances between
our planets, and unimaginable distances between the galaxies. The
dark space between is frigid, but burning stars heat and illuminate
the darkness: so vast, so beautiful, so different and ever changing.
Creative, brilliant minds have always tried to interpret our surroundings.
They have tried to find the mechanisms that make things function.
Through various tests and experiments, these great minds have come
up with laws that help us to understand, at least a little more,
our surroundings. These laws let us know, that at least from what
we see, some things are relatively constant; understanding these
constants helps make problem solving faster and easier for scientists.
However, outside of a science lab, a math class, physics lab or
certain occupations, knowledge of these constants has little value:
- Knowing the speed of light provides no comfort when a relationship
ends
- Understanding algebra means nothing, when someone we care
for is sick
- The Law of Gravity can't help you, when it feels like your
world is collapsing.
Again, in the appropriate setting, this knowledge is critical, but
knowledge of scientific, mathematical and physical constants gives
us little comfort when we encounter life's difficulties.
Knowledge of one constant does make a difference. We should love
this constant with our hearts, souls and minds. This One constant
is our God: Jesus Christ.
The Bible makes it clear; Jesus is unchanging. As it resonates through
eternity, the name of Jesus will always mean the same thing: the
way, the truth, the life, the light of the world, the Savior, the
Redeemer, the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Eternal Father,
the Prince of Peace, the One who is worthy to receive praise, the
One who created you, the One who died for you, the One who conquered
death, the One who loves you and the King of Kings. Psalm 90 echoes
the words of today's verse from Hebrews,
1 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
2 Before the mountains were born Or You gave birth
to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting,
You are God.
Psalm 90: 1-2 (NASB)
From everlasting to everlasting, God remains unchanged. He is always
God. He is always in control. Jesus Christ is the only one our souls
need. He is the constant that set all the other constants in place,
and He controls the laws of the universe. He suspends those laws
if, and when, He wants to create a miracle. No matter how crazy
our world appears to be getting, it's still subject to God's commands.
There will be times when we feel overwhelmed by life. In those times,
remember the constancy of our God. He has promised us, that He will
not change. He loves us, as much today as He did yesterday, and
tomorrow His love will remain as strong for us as it is today. Our
circumstances may get difficult, but that does not mean God has
changed. It does not mean God stopped loving us, and it does not
mean God has left the throne. It just means our circumstances are
difficult.
What a joy to know we have an unchanging God. One who allows us
access to Him at all times and never changes the rules. Praise Him
today for His unchanging nature. Praise Him today for always being
in control. Praise Him for your salvation, and praise Him for loving
you. He is our eternal constant: · He is the Father · He is the
Holy Spirit · He is Jesus Christ. May the grace and peace of our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you today and always…
